Song of Hope

On March 11, 2011, a massive earthquake in Japan triggered a huge tsunami with disastrous consequences for people, nature and cultural life. Yutaka Nishida from the radio programme "The Bandwagon" therefore asked several composers, including Jan Van der Roost, to write a simple work that could be played by many orchestras. "Song of Hope" begins darkly in the low register and then develops to a more optimistic conclusion.
