Fernando Sor (Barcellona 1778 - Parigi 1839) was the most important Spanish guitarist and composer of the fi rst half of the 19th century. He also worked on the opera, the ballet, the chamber music, symphonic and chorale. Nevertheless his true art is clearly displayed in guitar music. He wrote three sonatas, thirteen fantasias, themes and variations, a Grand solo, pieces for two guitars but his inspiration really blossomed thanks to the hundred studies and the didactic exercises he composed.
The enclosed CD contains the complete performance of all the works played by Giulio Tampalini.
