Askese. Salvatores Dei by Minas Borboudakis is a 26-minute work for mixed choir and orchestra:

It is based on the homonymous text by Nikos Kazantzakis which deals with man's daily struggle in search of gof and truth. The initially lush sound image is deconstructed more and more until it implodes intensely at the end.

The premiere took place on 15 November 2013 at the Herz-Jesu-Kirche, Munich with the Bavarian Radio Orchestra and Choir conducted by Ulf Schirmer.
