Basicjazz 1

We hereby the first volume of the series devoted to piano with four hands as part of the Basicjazz collection. This is one of the best ways of introducing beginners to group dynamics which are typical of chamber music for two reasons: because of the fact that the same instrument is shared; and also because of the physical proximity of the two musicians (an apparently trivial detail which is nonetheless important), since it facilitates that mysterious, almost magical, communication between the members of a musical group.

Designed to initiate young pianists in the language of syncopated music, the Basicjazz collection, by the composer and pianist Manel Camp, grasps the spirit of the new teaching regulations within the LOGSE regarding new methods and objectives with the development of the pupil’s sense of rhythm as well as his creative capacity.

Given the purpose of the work, we have tried to keep the pieces simple, although they retain the character of jazz through the rhythmic and archetypal harmonic patterns, and the first technical difficulties are presented gradually. With the chords one or more instruments can be added and the musicians themselves can take the first steps towards mastering improvisation.

For a correct interpretation, we suggest doing the first reading in the traditional way, giving each figure its own value, linking the phrases correctly and applying the different articulations in an accurate way.
